JavaScript

JavaScript scripting language, not to be confused with the similar programming language Java created by Sun Microsystems, doesn’t make the website. JavaScript makes the website better. JavaScript code works within your browser after a page has been fetched from the server.

The rise in its popularity continues as new usages of it come into play, such as AJAX and JSON.

AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript with XML) enables things like swapping content in and out of elements of a page without the need of a refresh from the browser. By using the Document Object Model (DOM), all components needed for a site are assembled on the initial load.

JSON or JavaScript Object Notation, is a standard format method for transmitting data from servers to web applications, gaining prominence over Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and Extensible Markup Language (XML) for encoding documents and building feeds.
