Source code is just what it says, explicit software commands that are able to be manipulated by a developer. The source code is then compiled, interpreted or processed in some fashion in order to allow a computer to understand it and execute it.

In the days of open-source code, there are many popular repositories for maintaining, checking out, forking, developing and tracking the history of source code. SourceForge, WordPress sub-version (SVG) repository and GitHub are some of the most notable.
